Swartz Creek, MI-- It's always an amazing opportunity whenever you have the chance to be surrounded by positive, organic, energy exchanges. In my most recent moments, the provider of these exchanges has been a young lady by the name of Gabrielle Cavett. She's the fresh face of Brandon Publishing with huge shoes to fill; yet for some reason, she's as cool as a fan about it all. Being handed titles like, "Leader Of The Young Authors," or "Trailblazer For Youth Writing" are not easy to size on. But 'Gabbie' has not only put her feet into those shoes, she's laced them up and begun walking forward. Gabrielle has also provided us an opportunity to look inside the mind of the creator of Hidden Minds; which is the title of her first book set to release October 15, 2015. Life is changing for Gabrielle on many levels, yet her heart to open up and hopefully relate to other teens in only a small portion of her purpose. She's gracefully embraced this calling holding it tightly with huge loads of humility. I was pleased to have her answer a few questions as she prepares for new challenges at school and in the literary world.
KB. School is just getting underway, your life will be different because of your new book, but what's different about school this year?
GC. As far as general things this year, I'm taking more honors classes. The work load has been a lot heavier this year than in past years. As far as the differences caused by the release coming up, the major difference would be having people come up to me that I don't know and ask me about my book release. It's amazing because they're interested in my book and really excited about it. However, it is also a strange feeling for me personally just because I'm not used to being recognized by people I don't know. Despite it being a little odd for me, though, I really do appreciate the support I've been getting from everyone since the announcement of my book release.
KB. What is it about the art of writing that you enjoy so much?
GC. My favorite thing about writing is that you get to create your own world and that the limits of reality don't apply when you're creating.
KB. Who is your favorite author?
GC. My favorite author is J.K. Rowling. The first series I really got interested in was the 'Harry Potter' series.
KB. What are you reading currently?
GC. I just finished 'The Vanishing Game' by Kate Kae Myers. I just started 'Monument 14' by Emmy Layboune.
KB. What's the most difficult thing you're facing in your life currently?
GC. Currently, the most difficult thing in my life is time management. Like most high school students, I have six classes. Outside of that, I'm involved in a couple activities after school as well as the Young Authors Program and the promotional things I do for my own book. That being said, If I don't properly manage my time, it starts to get very difficult to get everything done.
KB. If you could have only one output from the release of your book what would it be?
GC. If I could only have one output, it would be to show other people my age that they can release their own work and feel confidant in the quality of it. @
